Abstract

Mobile adhoc networks (MANETs) is a type of wireless network that further falls into the category of Infrastructureless network i.e A network without any base stations. It is also said to”multihop”. Adhoc network is Self –Organising and adaptive in nature that allows spontaneous formation and deformation of mobile networks and this mobility causes the change in a route. In simple words, adhoc network are Self-configuring and self healing in nature because it reduces administrative cost and it is because of this reason the nodes act as Router dynamically. Since MANET are mobile compared to wire line, It is very easily prone to attacks either by malicious node that create bogus route or nodes that listen to the messages that are not intended for them. This paper surveys the various Types of attacks in MANET that degrades its performance and for this reason It Is must to achieve better privacy and security under hostile and suspicious scenarios. The overall goal is find the gaps in existing literature.
