Family is the cornerstone of any society. For the healthy functioning of any society it is imperative that the family and the individuals living in the society live as happy well adjusted individuals. In this study an attempt has been made to study the effect of parenting in a family. That is, within a family it has been attempted to study the perceived parental attitude of parents and it was compared with that of children.
To find out if within a family there is difference in parental attitude perception between parents and children.
To find out if there is difference between father and mother in the same family in parenting style.
The participants consisted of 127 adolescents their siblings and parents. The age group of the adolescentswas between the ages of 17 to 19. The participants were from hTiruvananthapuram district. They were administered the CRPBI (Child's Report of Parental behavior Inventory)and personal data sheet.
Results showed that there is difference in parenting perception between children and parents. There is no difference in ratings between child and sibling in their ratings of their parents.
There is difference in the way parents perceive their Parenting style and as perceived by children.
