Far reaching commitments to gender equality and women's human rights are encapsulated in core international human rights instruments, including the UN convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDEN) as well as Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA). Together with commitments in Millennium Declaration and 2005 World Summit, they offer a road map for strengthening action, investments and accountability to advance gender equality and women's rights worldwide. The eight MDGs will provide a set of benchmarks to measure progress towards eradication of global poverty. MDG-3 – To Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women- will not only improve the quality of life of women, it will also help achieving all other goals.
