Abstract

The dictionary defines communication as a process by which information is exchanged between individuals to reach a common understanding and agreement. The dictionary also reminds us that the root, the Latin root of the word “communication” is “comunis facere”. Communication is concerned with sharing and participation - concepts which are the ingredients of trust. Sharing and participation have little to do with the way public mass media – all over the world – functions. Still today many government officials and a lot of development experts see communication as a one way street: information and instruction send from a wise sender to an ignorant receiver. Through this paper, an attempt has been made to highlight some of the important aspect of communicating effectively.
