Abstract

Scores of inventions in this world have been successful and often these inventions are overpowered by the new inventions. The landscape of IT industry has changed dramatically by the advent of ‘Cloud Computing’. Cloud Computing has enhanced the process time on a real time, cutting the cost, creating data storage opportunities, etc. It is the delivery of software, hardware and storage infrastructure services over the internet, metering the service to the client on pay-as-you-go model. Business firms are making new paradigms in the run to reduce the cost of their operations and optimize their productivity. At the macro level- globalization, competition, technological advancements and most importantly the ever demanding customers, has lead to a lot of pulls and pressure on companies to embrace and scale up to newer technologies like cloud services.

From a service vendor perspective, technologies are often updated. But the question arises about whom to sell the service or product. Inventions are appreciated, but the clients in the market are apprehensive when it comes to purchasing and adopting a novel technology. Cloud computing service vendors, with a revolution in technology, are not feeling an excellent growth in the service that has to be triggered for consumption as expected. In these times typically a service has to be designed and customized to the requirements of prospective customer that draws them as clients. Normally in the market if a service is not being increasingly adopted, then there would be some gap.

This paper makes an attempt to fill the gap in body of knowledge by identifying the problem of cloud computing adoption by IT companies. The paper tries to find whether there is any significant difference between importance given to cloud computing and its adoption. A descriptive research approach has been made to investigate and meet the objectives of the study. Chi-Square analysis and other descriptive analysis have been performed on the collected data to arrive at definite hypothesis. Findings have come put with flying colors revealing spectacular difference in preferences f different types of clouds and their usage patterns. Many more elements have successfully bridged the existing gap in the body of knowledge.
