First secondary school leaving examination in West Bengal, conducted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) at the end of class X, is called Madhyamik Examination. This examination is very crucial for the future of the students as well as the future of the society. Since the year 1976 to 2012 the pass percentage in the examination has been progressing. But, there prevails district, gender and caste wise huge spatial discrimination in pass percentage and performance level of the students in Madhyamik examination. Present paper critically divides the whole West Bengal in four distinct zones on the basis of performance of the students in the examination using simple ranking method.
