The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between the level of emotional intelligence that an individual possesses and its impact on the turnover intention of the faculty members working with private universities in North India’
The study uses a cross sectional design as Measures of emotional intelligence and faculty turnover intentions were collected at single point of time T1. The sample size was of 90 faculty members working across various private universities in diverse departments. Data was collected from 80 faculty members both male and female. The only factor that was deliberately controlled was the selection of only those respondents who have completed at least tenure of three years in the present organization.
The use of a self-report measure of emotional intelligence was one of the limitation. While this published measure has been shown to be valid and reliable, there are debates over the validity of self-report measures of emotional intelligence.
The authors contend that encouraging more emotionally intelligent responses in employees may enhance the number of retentions and improve employee attitudes
