The Indian retail sector is witnessing tremendous growth. The change in demographics and an increase in the quality of life of urban people are the key factors contributing to rise of retail in India. Further FDI in retail will bring a noticeable change in this fastest growing sector. This paper analyses the chronological growth of retail, its present scenario, prospects and challenges.
