Bio-village is an approach to sustainable agriculture and rural development which seeks to resolve concurrently the twin concerns of the contemporary development context viz. degradation of the resource base and persisting rural poverty; the strategy pursued in accomplishing the objective is a holistic systems perspective to the development of biophysical as well as human resources at the command of the participating community both individually (farm holdings) and communally (common property resources), falling within a spatial entity such as a village or watershed. To seek support from other sources especially the Government of Tamilnadu and the development finance institutions in implementing activities engaged to operationalise the bio-village concept. The identification of the potentials and constraints of the biophysical and human resources by assessing the current status of development, institutions and infrastructure through preparing Resource Profiles of the villages.
