Abstract

Sexual crime against women is committed across the world, but elsewhere they tend to be individual crime committed in private circumstances. It's only in India that going rapes are uploaded as MS clips or carried out in moving vehicles in cities. While indicative of a social pathology that's specific to us, it's clearly also being resisted by significant segments of society. There's a social and sexual churning that's afoot, with which India's archaic administrative and political system are falling to cope. According to a senior doctor who is treating the girl raped by group of people, “It might take a couple of months more for the girl to recover. The injuries will heal, but I don't know how she will cope with the mental trauma, how she will survive?. The girl got into a bus at 9.30 in the evening, she had a male friend with her, she had broken no rules, but she was still raped and badly injured by group of bus staff. Now there's nothing left to tell. This is the feeling millions of Indian women both young and old, across the country fear and loathing. Instead of keeping up our ambivalence about modernity, we need to see security of women as an essential element of infrastructure and development. Indian constitution gives equal rights to women and they have also rights to security. Security of women as critical to building thriving cities and decent lives for Indian as roads, power, water or breathable air. This proposed security system of women will diffidently decrease the very high ratio of women rape cases and sexual crime.
