As mentioned in the introduction, there is an important linkage between the development of tourism and railways. The project of Palace on Wheels is the best example of this Co relationship. This paper discuss on the study of how did the idea of Palace on Wheels come and throws a light on Over View of Indian railways. Spectacular variation of Indian Railways and its appeal among the people were skillfully used to attract the tourists. People's nostalgia, the urge for visiting the historical places and modem comforts were blended through this package tour by rail. This is an example for a tourism professional to learn how can one systematically use the available resources for the promotion of tourism. In a ‘similar way you should also think of various packages for attracting the tourists. Success of the Palace on Wheels has inspired the Railway Authorities to plan for more such package tours.
