T.S. eliot's enquiry into the communicative contingency and gaps in modern discourse

Communication is classically conceived as the transference of an already constituted meaning. If the margins of this already constituted meaning begin to blur out and admit a space or a gap, forces of decomposition permeates and the crisis deepens. A failure of communication on various levels creates an opacity that throws the verbal modules into a frenzied play of presence and absence, stability of signification and representation perennially hovering at the edge of an apparently bottomless abyss. Austin, Derrida and Searle's investigation into the problematic of such gaps or absences are overtly anticipated in T.S.Eliot's works that repeatedly question the apparent consistency of discourse.
