Abstract

What is the prevalence of Anaemia among primary class students under Indira Bal SwasthyaYojna in rural block of a dist. of northern India?

To determine prevalence of Anaemia among primary class students under Indira Bal SwasthyaYojna in rural block of a dist. of northern India

Cross-sectional, descriptive

Government primary schools under CHC Chiri block of Dist. Rohtak.

Percentage, simple proportion, chi square test

1384 primary class students covered under IBSY.

The overall prevalence of anaemia was 68.6%. 949 out of 1384 students had varying severity of anaemia while anaemia was absent in 435 participants. Out of the 1384 students, 537 (38.8%) were mildly anaemic, 408 (29.5%) were moderately anaemic and 4 (0.3%) were severely anaemic.

The present study revealed anaemia to be a major public health problem among primary school going students.
