Abstract

Need and importance of human resource management it's being increasingly realized in industrial and non industrial organizations including banks. This realization has come about because of increasing complexity of the task of administrators, executives and practicing managers. In most organizations, including banks, the problems of getting competent and relevant persons, retaining them, keeping them to continuously grow and contribute their best to the organizations, are now viewed as the most critical problem. With the changes in the social climate, values and norms are also seen the employees who join the organization today. As a matter of fact, the present day employee are competent organized and more informed than employees in the past. While people are the asset to the organizations, they became problematic if the organizations are not able to manage them effectively.

Saptagiri Grameena Bank has been formed with the merger of Sapthagiri Grameena Bank, Chittoor, Chittoor district and Kanakadurga Grameena bank, Govinda, Krishna District, w.e.f from 01-07-2006 with Head office at Chittoor, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, in terms of Government of India GO dt: 29-06-2006. Bank's Operational area is spread over across Chittoor and Krishna districts in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The bank is a having 151 branches (97 branches in Chittoor district and 54 branches in Krishna district), 1 Extension counter and 1 satellite office. Of the 151 branches 103 branches are in Rural, 36 area in semi-urban and 12 branches are in Urban areas. Urban-Rural classification based on 2001 census.
