This paper focuses on the conceptual and methodological issues related to women‘s empowerment, the trends in women‘s empowerment over the last 20 years in key areas such as education, health, economic and political participation. The main objective of this study is to focus on various issues and challenges being faced by the women: like gender inequality in society, not proper education, no social status which is hindering the sustainable development of the women.
