Abstract

The research was conducted to establish the security awareness and attitudes of the students at Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) in Zimbabwe and to establish the need for information security awareness training.

The research followed previous studies conducted in different parts of the world and came up with a questionnaire to determine how students at Great Zimbabwe University were aware of security topics and how much they were able to implement the control measures required.

The results showed that not all security topics are related to ISAT as some security measures are embedded in softwares and web sites and students can learn them from there. All the topics that are not covered by softwares and websites should be emphasized if ISAT is to be introduced.

The study was to test if ISAT could be applicable and helpful to GZU students, and universities in Zimbabwe could use results of this study to implement ISAT in their institutions.
