The banana has been the main edible fruit of the rural and urban population in spite of the increase in its cost. It is of sufficient economic importance in South India to merit a monograph. For the recent past it has been observed that there is an increasing trend in fruit culture and it is an important occupation in India. It has emerged as one of the significant food-fruit crops providing nutritional and livelihood security through national and international level. The researcher has chosen Madurai District as the study area, because Madurai district ranked first in the production of banana among the fruits. The objective of the study is to analyse the resource use efficiency in Banana production. Resource use efficiency was calculated by using the production function analysis and marginal value productivity analysis. The specific contribution of the individual resources computed from the production function analysis provided the necessary information for efficient individual resource allocation.
