Abstract

The libraries are for promoting social incorporation, supporting, fostering and shaping the new cultural diversity of the society. The key function of the public library is a guarantor of public access to information. Library users are the fundamental component of any given library as they are the customers for which the library is meant for. The resources and services they offer create opportunities for learning, support literacy and education, and help to shape the new ideas and perspectives that are central to a creative and innovative society. It ensures an authentic record of knowledge created and accumulated by past generations. In this modern society, the knowledge is becoming increasingly complex and the same is true about the means of communication knowledge. As libraries approach the beginning of a new century, they are encountering numerous developments that present both challenges and opportunities. In this context, the study has analyzed the Readers’ satisfaction with special reference to the Saraswathi Mahal Library. The primary data has been collected from 115readers of the library. It can be inferred that the library is recognized as the true dimensions of the revolution in terms of scope and large among the readers.
