Abstract

One way of enhancing the mental prowess of the students is through simulations and games. The use of games and simulations for educational purposes may be traced to the use of war games in the 1600s. The purpose was to improve the strategic planning of armies and navies. Since the 1800s, they have served as a component in the military planning of major world powers. In this paper the researcher has used an intellectual game as a tool to improve various aspects related to intelligence, memory and the cognitive abilities of the students. The research was carried out using the Rubik's Cube. 30 Students with similar aptitude scores were selected for the study. Out of these, 15 students were introduced to the Rubik's cube and taught to solve it over a period of two months. An aptitude test was conducted for these 30 students after a period of 2 months to observe the difference in the scoring pattern between those who have mastered the cube and those who have not.
