Abstract

The year 2020 is believed to be doomed & that is attributable to the outbreak of contagious virusCovid-19, which has abruptly led the world economy to hit the abyss. For a country like India-which is highly overpopulated and where the health sector is heavily constrained-the implications are formidable from the point of view of the pressure it will put on different sectors. This paper analyzes the economic performance of India in recent times of pandemic and how various sectors have reacted to the situation. A discussion has been made on the framework developed by the Indian government to revive the economy with an added opportunity for the manufacturing sector which, fundamentally, has never been a major driver of growth. Also, the challenges and opportunities lying ahead for the Indian economy while confronting the current issues have been explored.
