Abstract

On the planet each country has been affected by COVID-19 and trying to recover on their own pace differently. This wave of pandemic outbreak has bruised several industries from which aviation industry is one of the industries that will get a more immediate shock. Due to impose of lockdown, aviation industry is fully suspended their operations because airlines are recognized as a big carrier of this infectious disease. Some countries included India announced to resume domestic airlines operations from MAY.25, 2020 with the set of new rulesfor the airports, airlines and passengers. Social distancing, i.e. avoiding social contact has become a new norm applied during the service delivery time. Ensure safe and secure operations and passenger boarding process is a bigger challenge for the carrier stakeholders because of stranded operations. This crises impacts negatively on entire transforming aviation ecosystem most importantly, the consumers behavior. Additional norms and some new dynamics are enforced, that can demand a change in the behavior of the passengers. The paper evaluates through recent studies that social distancing during boarding and aircraft cabin disinfection post every flight extends the turnaround time (more than double), so we confined that there ishigh impact on airline and airport operations. The study reviews the COVID-19 announcements and aviation industry reactions in different phases of crises and evaluate the implications, challenges and passengers future behavior to fly again later the end of this trouble. The study concluded with the suggestions to Policymakers and planners to encourage active travel, and creating ways to fly high again.
