Exploring the employees’ perception towards the HRM practices in Indian Hotels: An empirical study of Indian hospitality sector

Abstract

1. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find different HRM practices followed in hospitality sectors, and analyse the employees’ perception on these practices.

2. Design/methodology/approach: The study captured responses from Hotel staff from various Hotels of Northern India, The structured questionnaire was prepared based on the extensive literature review on the topic and 27 variables were selected in the initial stage. The data collected was analysed by using Factor Analysis with varimax rotation.

3. Findings: The study clearly showed that the HR practices pertaining to the Employee appraisal, motivation and rewards having significant impact on employees’ perception. The analysis resulted into four major areas of impact where employee perception was significant.

4. Practical Implication: The Study will serve to current generation HR managers to build up the HR policies which has more noteworthy effect on their workers, hereby retaining them within the organization and channelize them in the fulfilment of organizational goals, and minimizing the employee turnover which affect negatively to the hotel's quality standards.

5. Theoretical Implication: The finding of the study will add significant contribution to existing data related to HR practices in hospitality sector in India.
