Health insurance portability - Is customer the king now?

Abstract

Health is the level of functional or metabolic efficiency of a living being. Life is unpredictable, health insurance can make it safe and secure from bearing huge financial loss. Health insurance is agreement between two entities-insurer and insured. The insurer is the insurance company approved by Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority and insured is person who buys policy. The Indian market is flush with many health insurance providers, with the advent of world class customer service the insured has the option of switching to other insurers who offers a better deal without losing the continuity benefits. This porting of insurance provider is known as Insurance portability. This paper makes an effort to analyze the prospects of insurance portability and discusses the value of health insurance. Implications of this study can be used to analyze the effectiveness of insurance portability.
