Abstract

Employability skills are the non-technical skills and knowledge necessary for securing a job and also effective participation in the workforce, and can include skills such as communication, selfmanagement, problem solving and teamwork and others dealt in this article. They are also sometimes referred to as generic skills, capabilities, enabling skills or key competencies. Students of Management & Engineering may encounter employability skills while facing campus interviews. Necessary skills are discussed in this paper and role of faculty is envisaged. Seminars & training on career education also incorporate development of employability skills. The general capabilities encompass the knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions that, together with curriculum content in each learning area and the cross-curriculum priorities, will assist students to live and work successfully in the twenty-first century. Todays faculty plays a crucial role in enhancing students employability. The expected role by faculty is discussed.
