Abstract

Tourism as a medium of entertainment for the individuals has always been an important source of growth for any economy. The Indian Tourism has developed and showed tremendous improvements in the last few years, it has gone through different phases and today is one of the major contributing sectors of the economy generating the revenue, employment, the growth prospects for the other supporting industries and the improvements and growth of the infrastructural development programme of the economy as a whole. This paper highlights the governmental initiatives for the growth and development of the Indian Tourism and its role in India's economic growth and development.
