Supply chain management represents the confluence of at least three main streams of knowledge and practical experience of the business world spanning almost 60 years. The fusion of these streams into one powerful movement, supply chain management sweeping across the present day industrial world has been brought about by intense competition characteristics of the contemporary markets.
These streams include business processes and managerial practices. In course of their development, these processes and practices have absorbed several allied and subsidiary functions such as sourcing, procurement, supply management, materials management and logistics and distribution.
The research paper mainly consists of the objectives to know the current practices of SCM in the manufacturing industries. It also aims at the knowing the problems faced by the organisations in that SCM practices.
The research is descriptive in the nature and the samples are taken conveniently. Most of the organisations are managing the supply chain with the close partnership with the suppliers. Most of the organisations are facing the problem of lack of skill which is required for the effective SCM.
If the organisations are considering these points that will be competitive advantages to them.
