Environmental education awareness among senior secondary school students

Abstract

The present study identifies the environmental education awareness of senior secondary school students in relation to type of school, gender and subject streams. Environmental Awareness Ability Measure was used for collecting data from a random sample of 200 senior secondary school students. Statistical techniques such as mean, standard deviation and t test were applied for analysis of data. The results revealed high level of environmental education awareness in these students. No significant differences were observed in environmental education awareness in relation to type of school, gender and subject streams. However, significant differences were observed between government male and female senior secondary school students as well as private male and female senior secondary school students. Insignificant difference in environmental education awareness was observed between government science and art students as well as private science and art students of senior secondary schools.
