Abstract

Banking institutions form an important part of the money market and are indispensible in a modern developing society. Indian money market comprises both organised as well as unorganized sectors of the Indian money market commercial banks and co-operative banks have been in existence for a pretty long time. It is well known fact that the destination of co-operative movements was reached only after a very long harmful journey. In India co-operative banks played a vital role in the economic development, credit to agriculture in the urban and rural sector. The co-operative banks have occupied a key position, they have a very strong credit structure having three tier structures both in agriculture and non-agriculture sector in the total co-operative banking operations. Therefore this paper attempts to evaluate financial performance of District Central Co-operative Banks in India.
