Abstract

The information technology (IT) revolution has changed the world beyond out imagination. Electrical and electronic products have become ubiquitous of today's life around the planet. Without these products, modern life would not be possible in (post-) industrialized and industrializing countries. The alarming rate which these electronics products are used has also come with a cost. This cost is in the form of electronic waste or e waste which is emerging as a major environmental and health hazard. For instance, according to UNEP, 40 million tones of e-waste is generated globally every year. ‘What are the possible solution to this growing menace of e-waste. One way out is to apply 3R principle-Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Hence the focus of this paper is how the Principle of 3R-can be applied in solving the problem of growing menace e-waste.
