The Indian financial markets comprises of the money market and the capital market. The capital market is the indicator of the financial health of the economy. SEBI is authorised to promote and regulate the capital markets in India. The present study was undertaken to analyze the factors affecting the pricing of these offerings that come out in the primary market. In order to study the IPO market an understanding between risk and reward had been studied. A sample size of 10 companies was selected which issued their IPO's between 2004 to 2010 and these companies belong to different sectors of the economy. This main objective was achieved by studying the important factors affecting the pricing of an IPO and to know what role they play in the investment pattern of an Indian investor.
