Abstract

The Indian higher education system has exhibited impressive growth over the last decade to become one of the world's largest systems of higher education. The size of India's higher education market is about $40 billion per year. Presently about 12.4 percent of students go for higher education from the country. If India were to increase that figure of 12.4% to 30%, then it would need another 800 to one thousand universities and over 40,000 colleges in the next 10 years.

India's large and young population requires access to credible higher education in order to promote inclusive growth and excellence. Traditionally, mentoring in higher education institutions has either occurred informally or as a planned program where the more experienced members are matched with less experienced members in a formal one-to-one program. Alternative mentoring methods such as four tier mentoring can provide advantages over the traditional approach for academic institutes.

Within this scope, this paper is a descriptive research that attempts to discuss the impact of mentoring and understanding its effectiveness at Amity University and recommendations for inclusive excellence.
