Abstract

This paper attempts to address/evaluate the technical efficiency and productivity performance of public sector banks listed in CNX Nifty index on March 31, 2012. Six banks has been analyzed from 2000–2001 to 2011–2012. The Study after defining input and output parameters, adopts a nonparametric Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to study the impact of public sector banks. There is a strong relationship between productivity and profitability is proved from the analysis of correlation coefficient. To this end, the respective bank authority has a great role to play on developing the banks efficiency.
