Savings should be transformed into investment for enhancing the value of money. There are various alternative avenues of investment for the savings. These can be invested in different types of assets depending on their risk and return characteristics. Since all investments involve some risk or uncertainty. Broadly speaking, there are two types of investors in capital market- institutional investors and retail investors. The present paper focuses on selected issues related to retail investors-modified guidelines of SEBI to increase the limit in IPO, dividend distribution tax policy, and e-voting facility. Further the present paper makes an attempt to identify main stumbling blocks which come in the way of retail investors.
