Assistant Professor,
The number of studies has recognized the relationship between Human Resource Development (HRD), and Job satisfaction, and one of the mechanisms through which HRD leads to organisational performance is job satisfaction of employees. This paper aims to theoretically and empirically investigate the role of HR practices in the area of HRD having in its ambit: training and development, career development, performance management and rewards & recognition management, on job satisfaction. Employing data from banking organisations operating in the Tri-city, involving 268 managerial employees indicates that a significant difference was found on the dimension of organisation HRD practices and employees Job satisfaction level. The public sector bank employees were found to be lower than their private sector counterparts on both the dimensions, thereby concluding that private sector employees are more satisfied than their public sector counterparts because of a significant role emphasis on HRD practices by private high ups. Thus, this paper has tried to provide insights on the HRD practices of banks and employees satisfaction level.
