Abstract

Social networking services are fast redefining the formation & maintenance of interpersonal connections through virtual platforms. The study aimed to examine the online behavior of college students, who are typically the most active on social networks. The authors conducted a survey of 100 college students to find which social website they were on &how the growing accessibility of smartphones had affected their social networking habits. There has been noticeable shift towards social/messaging apps on mobile, which enable people to stay constantly in touch. Though Facebook still remains popular among the respondents with a greater number of friends on the site compared to Whatsapp, the latter scored high in terms of their loyalty.
