Climate change and global warming has been challenging our natural and agro-ecosystem to a great extent at present. It has been affecting sustainability of living beings. The Success and failure of farm enterprise especially vegetable production depends on the whims of weather and extreme & uncertain weather events. The frequencies of such weather events are likely to increase temperature manifold under climate change and global warming scenario. These changes can have disastrous effects on vegetable production and thus food security of poor, marginal and small farmers in any region, would be affected severely because they subsist mostly on climate sensitive economic sectors like vegetable production, which are quick growing high value crops. The major concern regarding changing agro-ecosystem is focused on natural resource management.
To achieve sustainable production of vegetable crops in such as application of climate change agro-ecosystem, the scientific production technologies mulches, to enhance nitrogen use efficiency, crop are to production structures, pot culture, hydroponics and rivers bed cultivation be prioritized. However emphasis should be given to the strategies like crop diversification, weather arise farming adoption, stress tolerance crop varieties hybridization and carbon sequestration to overcome the deleterious effect of climate change on vegetable production.
