Abstract

In India, women‘s have marked their presence in all the disciplines and projected their talents, skill sets, knowledge and witnessed success in any grade of job that they have taken up. With the increase in gender equality of women and rising educational levels women have slowly started to creep into management jobs by entering into corporate life. However, social and cultural attitudes are remaining as prevalent factors in choices of jobs for women as most of them prefer feminine jobs like teaching or nursing. Nonetheless, women‘s are making inroads in the management sectors as it has paved way with opening more employment opportunities for them. Yet, their progress is slow and uneven as the women representations in the managerial jobs are very less when compared to men.

The phenomenal growth of banks has created massive employment opportunities for the educated women of our nation. The women job-seekers find jobs in banks more attractive and more suitable to their nature. An attempt has been made to identify the challenges and opportunities of women employees in the Indian Banking Industry.
