Employees trust as predictor of counterproductive work behaviour

Abstract

This research has investigated the relationship among different constructs of employee trust like Dependability, Predictability and Faith and constructs of counterproductive work behavior like Theft, Sabotage, Withdrawal, Production Deviance and Abuse. Subjects for study were selected from the population of employees working with various public and private sector insurance companies working in the National Capital Region of Delhi, India. Total 220 employees were selected through purposive sampling technique from the insurance companies. Research data was collected by using questionnaire method and analyzed with structure equation modeling and Karl Pearson correlation. Result of research study reveals that Sabotage one of dimension of counterproductive work behavior was found positively and significantly correlated with all the dimensions of trust among employees of insurance companies of NCR, New Delhi. Theft, dimension of counterproductive work behavior was found positively and significantly correlated with predictability and faith, dimensions of trust. Withdrawal, dimension of counterproductive work behavior was found positively and significantly correlated with all the three dimensions of trust i.e. predictability, dependability and faith among employees
