Abstract

Corporate social responsibility means conducting business in an ethical way and in the interests of the wider community and responding positively to emerging societal priorities and expectations. It is a willingness to act ahead of regulatory confrontation and balancing shareholder interests against the interests of the wider community for becoming a good citizen. It is the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large. Thus the meaning of CSR has two fold. On one hand, it exhibits the ethical behaviour that an organization exhibits towards its internal and external stakeholders. On the other hand, it denotes the responsibility of an organization towards the environment and society in which it operates. CSR is regarded as vehicle through which companies give something back to the society. Moreover corporate social responsibility is an obligation, beyond that required by the law and economics, for a firm to pursue long term goals that are good for society and the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as that of the local community and society at large. In the present study an attempts has been made to study the corporate social responsibilities for industrial image at NTPC Barh Patna India. The study showed the corporate social responsibilities for industrial image at NTPC Barh Patna. to be average. The average mean and percentage scores of the overall 23 items have been computed at 2.53 (38.25%). Study concluded that the CSR activities of the NTPC are not properly. So the image of NTPC Barh Patna is not satisfactory.
