Abstract

Crop insurance is an important instrument used by farmers for mitigating the financial lossess due to various type of natural calamities which damage or destruct production. This study determines the growth of loanee and non loanee farmers insured in odisha under crop insurance scheme. We have used log Lin model to measure the growth of loanee and non loanee farmers insured in odisha. We have analysed the data with the help of Eviews and done the necessary test and found that the model is suitable for the study. The study found that the loanee farmers insured were growing at the rate of 6.73 percentage in the kharif season but at the same time the non-loanee farmers insured were declining at the rate of 14.24 percentage. The study also found that the loanee and nonloanee farmers insured growth rate was declining at the rate of 8.8 and 37.8 percentage respectively in the Rabi season.
