Government plays a very important role in promoting and developing entrepreneurship among Dalits as this stratum of the society are labeled forlow income generating occupations, inferior trades, unhygienic environment and unclean menial occupations. Government's initiative of reservations in jobs alone will not help in uplifting the socio-economic status of Dalit as there is a huge gap between the available openings and the population size. Encouraging entrepreneurship among Dalit will not only help them to secure their livelihoods but also earn dignity in the society. Therefore, Government of India in close coordination with the state governments are aggressively working for providing handhold institutional assistance to boost Dalit entrepreneurship. The present study found that industrial policies and schemes of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh state governments are the most admirable, effective and Dalit friendly. The study also found that, schemes like T-Pride, Venture Capital Financing and Appreciation are the unique initiatives which has opened new avenues for Dalit entrepreneurs in these States.
