The objective of the present study to bring out source wise and purpose wise composition of indebtedness of marginal farmer households in India and comparative analysis of different categories of farmer households in the above context and used secondary data. Simple statistical tools like percentages and proportions are used for the comparative analysis. The charts are used for make the study easily understandable. The study conclude that marginal farmer households get minimum prevalence rate of indebtedness among the different categories of farmer households and get a little bit portion of total average amount outstanding for farmer households in India. The study further reveals that more than 60percent outstanding loan for marginal farmers get from the non institutional sources and outstanding loan for productive purpose increased according to the land holding by the different categories of farmer households but there find a big gap between the marginal farmers and other categories of farmers in use of outstanding loan amount for productive purposes, it's more than double for small farmer, medium and large farmer households.
