This paper is centred on the role of present day English in the development and promotion of standardized English language. In recent years English language has been developing in most of the countries and developed at a fast pace and English has become one of its prominent languages. However, its lack of understanding by 80% of the population has created serious gaps in internal communication. To bridge the existing gap, the study looks at how the present trend in the language can be instrumental in the spread of English language and be a useful tool for improving the English language teaching situation especially. The present trend in English language has an influential role in the lives of men and women of all ages. The powerful force of the electronic media has made a lot of vast changes in the accent, pronunciation, usages and it changed the entire course of the language. Most of these have concentrated on effects on people's lifestyles and behaviour with little or no attention paid on the influence of the new trend in English language usages especially in language learning. The new trend in English language has received both applause and criticism. Some of the critics and linguistic scholars don't accept the present day English language and its vast changes occurring by and by anyway. But sooner or later there will be tremendous changes in the course of English language which would be undeniable.
