The Tourism and Travel industry plays a prominent role in uplifting socio-economic conditions of the dependents of the tourism. A well structured tourism policy will bring more income to the state and central exchequer. Though the tourism is not a State’s related issue in India, however, the risk of implementation of the policy is the related to the state Governments. Therefore, the State Governments are needs to go with national and international tourism norms and parameters. Thus, state governments are required to review existing Tourism Policy periodically on par with the National Tourism Policy. Government of Karnataka, India has stepped to keep new tourism policy with an aim to protect the interest of stakeholders and strived to become more pro-poor. The Research work is based on secondary data. The data related to foreign and domestic tourist arrivals and the Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEE) have been collected from the official sources. The Karnataka New Tourism Policy 2009-2014 stating that, the policy is more pro-poor and infavour of the stakeholders. The Karnataka Tourism Policy has been analyzed with UN’s Models. The major suggestions including strengthening the Home Stay Policy, supporting the artisans to showcase the rural tourism, etc.
