The present paper deals with the various issues related to Corporate Social Responsibility with special reference to India. It has been widely acknowledged that the unethical practices followed by the companies harm not only customers but also the society as a whole. It also damages the company reputation and its effectiveness. Various ethical business practices that should be followed to build a honest reputation and ensure smooth running of any organization have also been examined in various parts of the paper. The present paper concludes that the companies should understand that CSR can be much more than a cost- a constraint, a charitable deed and it can be a source of opportunity, innovation and competitive advantage. The best way for the company to fulfill its obligations towards the society would be to voluntarily fulfill its social obligations.
