Abstract

Real Estate business is one of the key drivers of economic growth. The Indian Real Estate development sector has witnessed an immense revolution driven by the booming economy, favorable demographics, and a liberalized foreign direct investment regime. It is the second largest employer next only to agriculture and its size is close to USD 12 billion. Furthermore, such growth is projected to continue at a compound annual growth rate of 30% between 2008 and 2013. The integration of real estate with the various sectors of the economy, this segment will contribute a lot towards the economic upswing. This paper is an attempt to examine the issues such as demand drivers, affect of macro-economic factors on real estate investment and its existing scenario etc. An effort has also been made to identify constraints of the present Real Estate boom in India and finally it is concluded that there is huge market potential and big investment opportunity in Indian Real Estate overcoming the problems of decreasing GDP, inflation rise and high interest rates in a very shorter period.
