Assistant Professor,
The unethical business practices-key catalysts of the global economic crisis had brought the business houses under greater scrutiny than probably ever before. The integrity of such corporate has been pulverized and the belief in the corporate leaders is becoming a question of debate.
In today's changing environment corporate houses strive to achieve competitive edge and so they want their employees to maintain high moral standards. Today's business students have to define their ethical stance as business managers and key decision makers tomorrow.
Evan and Marcal have stated that one of the plausible reasons behind the current ethical crisis is the role of educational institutions. If the students are not made aware of the ethical practices that are needed to conduct themselves in the business environment and in their personal lives, they are likely to choose the wrong and unfair means.
Tomorrow's business leaders and today's business students are subjects of our research. The present study focuses on the management students’ perceptions and attitudes toward some ethically questionable practices with a special attention to the cheating in the academic setting. A lot of research studies have been conducted in the world to identify the relation of academic dishonesty of undergraduate, graduate and post graduate students with the effect on their professional behavior. The study aims to analyse the ethical behaviour of students in India, specifically Delhi. A survey was conducted in two renowned universities-GGS IP University, Delhi and Delhi University. A survey questionnaire was developed and administered to students enrolled at these universities. The survey was sent to all students but was responded to at will by those who chose to participate.
The results indicated that there is a difference in the ethical behaviour of male and female students. Also, there exists a difference in the ethical behaviour of students of IP University and Delhi University students.
