Abstract

The political relations between Iran and the United Sates have not been in a good condition after Islamic Revolution. However, different presidents have adopted different rhetorical functions in their speech while they are talking to Iranian people. The purpose of this study was to compare the speeches made by George W. Bush and Barack Obama for Iranians as Nowrouz message. By analyzing their speeches included in the corpus, we concluded that Bush and Obama's perception about Iranian people is predominantly the same although they have different political background, social background, experience, origins, and they are members of a different political party.
