Mobile computing: a wireless delivery technology

Migration is important for survival. Mobility is originated from the desire to move either toward resources or away from scarcity. Mobile computing is about physical and logical computing entities that move, where physical entities are computers that change locations and logical

entities are instances of a running user, application or a mobile agent.[2] Thus, “Mobile Computing” is a technology that allows transmission of data, via a computer; without having to be connected to a fixed physical link. It is widely established throughout the world and has had a very rapid increase in the number of subscribers to the various cellular networks over the last few years. Extensions of this technology are the ability to send and receive data cross these cellular networks. This is the principle of mobile computing.[3]

Mobile computing goes by names: Nomadic, Tetherless, Ubiquitous, Wireless and Remote Computing. Terms Wireless and mobile are not synonyms. Wireless enable distributed and mobile computing, thus bringing an end to the tyranny of geography. Mobile Computing build on the concept of being able to compute no matter where the user is.[5] Its goal is to work toward true computing freedom whereby user can connect to the network from anywhere, anytime and operate as if they were sitting in the “home” office.[4]
