Abstract

Urban centers in India are facing different challenges and constraints. With this in view the central government has coma in 2005 with urban renewal mission to be implemented in more than 60 cities all over India. One of the mission cities was Visakhapatnam city. As a result the city administration has implemented projects since 2007 on infrastructures such as water, sewerage, road and drainages. Besides, projects were also implemented that benefit particularly on housing to the poor. Having this, the article attempts to discuss endeavors of the city administration in implementing urban reforms and other mission components.
